Library Services
The Miller Memorial Library provides over 40,000 books, LPs, CDs, audio and video cassette tapes, plus 195 periodical titles in print. The library’s catalog and periodical indexing is web-based, and includes access to library catalogs throughout the UW- System. The circulation system provides easy check-out to students through the use of their identification cards. Interlibrary loan from other UW- Colleges and other UW- System libraries vastly expands students' research possibilities. Additional lab computers for word processing, e-mail, additional internet searching, and other programs are available.
Reserve Collection
This collection, located behind the Circulation Desk, includes books, articles, and/or audio and video tapes for short-term reading or viewing as assigned by faculty. Since many students need to access a limited number of copies or materials, fines for overdue items are heavy: 2-hr. loans: $1 per hour, per item; 1-7 day loans: $5 per day, per item.
Circulation
Books circulate for 3 weeks, periodicals for 1 week. Fines for overdue materials are assessed at 0.25 per day. Renewals are generally permitted and encouraged as necessary.
Interlibrary Loan
Materials not held by the Miller Memorial Library may be borrowed from other University of Wisconsin libraries through interloan. Materials usually arrive within one week, and circulate for the same length of time as do local materials. Please ask if you need any help placing a request.
Textbook Library
Located in the Miller Memorial Library, the Textbook Library provides most of the coursework books which students will need. Textbooks are rented for the semester, through student fee assessment. (Some books, particularly novels and workbooks, need to be purchased at the campus bookstore.)
Laptop Rental
The library has two laptops available for 2-hour or overnight rental. Students must present either campus ID or driver's license, sign a form acknowledging what items were received, and are responsible for reading and understanding the Circulation Policy. As with other library materials, late return fees will be placed on the student's PRISM account as necessary. It is strongly suggested that students provide a portable medium such as a flash drive on which to store their files as the hard drives are cleared when the laptop is shut down.
