Dr. David Wilson, chancellor of the UW Colleges and UW-Extension, has announced he will recommend to UW System President Kevin Reilly and the UW Board of Regents that Dr. Patrick Glenn Hagen be appointed as the next campus executive officer and dean of the University of WisconsinRichland. If approved by the Board of Regents, Hagen would begin his service at the Richland Center UW campus on July 1.
Hagen, a resident of Mineral Point, currently chairs the Humanities Department at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, a position he’s held since 2008. Hagen has been a member of the UW-Platteville faculty since 1996, is an associate professor of German, and head of the UW-Platteville German program.
He earned his Ph.D. in German literature in 1997 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he also earned his master’s degree in German literature in 1988. His UW-Madison bachelor’s degree, completed in 1986, is in German literature with an Honors degree in political science. Hagen has taught in China and developed courses there on English language and culture.
Hagen grew up on a family farm in Stoughton.
If approved, Hagen will be the eighth individual to serve the campus in this top leadership post. He would succeed Dr. Deborah B. Cureton who plans to return to South Carolina and resume her retirement after service as interim CEO/dean during the past year.
