Grab your camping gear in preparation for a weekend getaway at Governor Dodge State Park. This outdoor destination is less than an hour from campus. Explore the bluffs, waterfall, lakes, trails and wildlife this park has to offer. Nothing beats sitting around a campfire making some s’mores with good company.

From the first Saturday of June, you can shop fresh produce from local vendors at the Richland Area Farmer’s market. The market opens up at 8:15 a.m. on the Courthouse lawn and runs until around noon. Sample various dips, honey and other delicious food. Be sure to come with an empty stomach!

Explore Eagle Cave

One must see attraction in Richland County is Eagle Cave, Wisconsin’s largest onyx cave. The cave has four levels to view with underground tunnels you can crawl into. Along with the cave, you can explore the campsite by hiking or geocaching. Make sure to bring clothes that can get a little messy, the cave is full of clay and mud.

Adventure in Pine River

Get out on the water by kayaking or canoeing on the Pine River. There are stretches of the river for more experienced paddlers, while other areas are great for learning how to kayak/canoe or to go tubing. No matter what level you are at, you are sure to have an adventure!

Enjoy the Outdoors at the Pine River Recreational Trails

Whether you’re a hiker, a biker or just love nature, Pine River Recreational Trail is the right place for you. These scenic trails run along an abandoned rail bed where you can see a great view of the river bluffs. Try one of the marked bluff-top climbs for a challenge, or hit up an easier trail for a leisurely walk. There’s something for everyone!

These five activities are a great start for any UW-Richland student interested in making the most of their time in college. What would you add to your college bucket list?
