About Campus Counseling Services…
Campus Counseling Services at the University of Wisconsin-Richland are made possible through student fees. CCS can provide an array of help and services when you are feeling stressed, depressed, or have other issues for which professional counseling services may be appropriate.
Becky Miller, MSE, LPC-IT is a Mental Health Therapist with Richland County Health & Human Services and is the designated counselor serving UW-Richland students.
What kinds of problems can I get help with?
Students may sometimes encounter problems or life situations that cause emotional distress and difficulty coping. Some examples include school adjustment problems, sexual assault, dating violence, substance abuse issues, family/relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, adjustment to stressful life situations, past abuse issues, or coping with a major mental illness.
Who is eligible?
Any student enrolled at UW-Richland is eligible to receive student assistance services.
How do I set up an appointment?
A professional counselor is on-site 8 hours a week Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Melvill Hall, Room 443 from 8am-12pm. Appointments can be scheduled by calling (608) 649-5777 or by e-mailing Becky Miller. Drop-in appointments are accepted if the counselor is not in a meeting.
What if I need help when the counselor is not on campus?
Professional staff at the Clinical Services Outpatient Clinic will be available during their normal office hours (8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) each weekday. The CSOC is located in the Richland County Community Services building downtown at the corner of Seminary and Main. Crisis intervention services are available by calling (844) 610-6706.
What services are available?
Assessment, referral and short-term counseling are available free to all UW-Richland students. In addition, informational materials are available upon request.
What is the cost?
Campus Counseling Services may include up to six sessions with a counselor at no cost to the student. Additional services may be available for ongoing needs and an appropriate referral will be made.
Will my friends and teachers know?
Not unless you inform them. Confidentiality is maintained. A student’s identity will remain confidential and will not be shared with the university.
