Careers in Cooking
I've studied food and nutrition for over 30 years including earning a degree in nutrition from UW Green Bay in 1998. I have written two cookbooks. One in 1998 called "Taste of Life" and the second one in 2009 called "Our Food Journey". My belief is you are what you eat, so I experiment with different grains, flours, sweeteners, and spices. Food needs to look good as well as taste good, but it also needs to feed and nourish the body. There are many diseased conditions that can be cured with a proper diet and my goal is to educate people to use food as fuel for the mind and body.
Amy Forehand
Careers in Law
I graduated from Hamline Law School in 1998. I have been the Richland Assistant District Attorney since July of 2002. I handle all types of cases from speeding tickets to felonies, such as drug dealing and burglary. Before coming to work at the District Attorney's Office I worked for the Public Defender's Office in Stillwater, Minnesota and was in private practice doing criminal and family law.
Friendship Quilters
Quilting Continued
Friendship Quilters Guild was established July 1, 1987, to share the love of quilts and quilt making with one another and provide information for those who would like to learn more about the art of quilting. We have 40 members and are open to any one that would like to join us, the fourth Monday of the month at Town & Country Church at 7:00 pm. Each year we have a Quilt show in October at the Town & Country Presbyterian Church. The Guild has created quilts for Walk with Grace and Heart Health for Women. We had such a great time last year with our first classes for College for Kids and are looking forward to this year.

Robots of the Solar System
I connected with the cosmos when the Cub Scouts took me on a field trip to the Fels Planetarium in Philadelphia when I was in fifth grade. I teach English at Richland Center High School including our planet's only summer school course in Martian Literature. I enjoy stargazing, especially under the dark skies of Southwest Wisconsin. I have attended space education workshops at Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama, Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and Johnson Space Center in Texas and enjoy sharing the adventures with my students.
Gail Hoffman
Wilderness Survival and First Aid
I'm an Assistant Professor of Physical Education and Athletics at UW-Richland. I have B.P.E. from Purdue University and a M.S. in Pedagogy from UW-LaCrosse. I enjoy coaching, officiating, and being outdoors. I especially enjoy helping others live a healthy, productive, and long-lasting life.
Hsiao-Chi (Dora) Johnson
Creative Dramatics
I am a native of Taiwan and only recently moved to Wisconsin. I received my Master of Arts with a major in Theatre Studies, with a Concentration on Directing and Creative Drama, from Northwestern University in Evanston IL. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Diplomacy at National Cheng-chi University, Taipei Taiwan. I love all aspects of theater. I have written and produced plays and taught drama classes in both the US and Taiwan. I am eager to share my love of interpretive theater with Middle School U students.
Jim Korb
Wetter and Wilder
I am a graduate of UW-LaCrosse and I have been teaching at the elementary level for 31 years. I am currently at Jefferson Elementary. I love working with kids. I have extended my reach by being part of the instructional staff at UW Richland's College for Kids, Middle School U and PreCollege Programs. My passion is sharing my love of the outdoors - especially monitoring the streams and the microscopic life in them. My experience with NASA's EarthKAM Program began 8 years ago when I learned about it at Madison's Spring Harbor Environmental Magnet Middle School. I can't wait to share it with Middle School U students.
Jerry Lynch
Exploring Chemistry
I've been teaching science at the secondary levels now for 25 years and I am currently a science teacher at the Richland Middle School. The sciences caught my eye at a very early age, and I especially enjoy life science and the physical sciences. My true passion is spending quality time outdoors where I really enjoy the hunting and fishing sports. Above all I love turkey hunting and I have shared this passion with many others through our local NWTF Chapter's Learn To Hunt program, which I have helped coordinate now for the past 10 years. I really look forward to sharing some fun chemistry activities with the students of UW-Richland's Middle School U and may even have an interesting "turkey story" to share as well! Gobble Gobble!

Black Holes, Space Warps, and Other Wonders of Modern Science
I have always loved to take things apart to see how they work, and maybe to fix them. I have studied and taught physics and engineering for decades, and there are always new experiments to do, and new things to learn. I am especially interested in figuring out how we might travel to the stars, and mine energy from empty space, very challenging goals that I have explored for NASA. Curiosity drives me to explore the world of ideas. I also make welded steel sculptures, do karate, and take piano lessons.
Wayne Morgenthaler
Geocaching
I taught high school for 37 years as a business education instructor and the past five years at UW-Richland and UW-Platteville. However, my true passion is fishing. I am an avid fisherman who wants to pass the sport on to the younger generation. I have been a certified DNR fishing instructor for the past 10 years and have run fishing camps through the local recreational department for 6 years. I use electronics all the time in my fishing trips and also put on the first geocaching tournament in Richland County. There are many uses for GPS units, and I would like to transfer this knowledge on to my students. I also write fishing and hunting articles for mwnews.net. My website is www.littlebobber.yolasite.com.

Pysanky - Eggstraspecial
I have a passion for people and their cultures. My international focus is no surprise since I grew up in Southeast Asia and have worked with the international students at the UW-Richland since 1994. I first learned the Ukrainian art of decorating eggs on a retreat at a Russian Orthodox convent in 1990. Since then, I've spent time in Ukraine getting to know my daughter-in-law's family and have also explored egg-art traditions in several other countries. My B.A. degree is in Social and Cultural Studies from Vermont College in Montpelier, VT.
Dan Nedrelo
Digital Photography
I have been a photographer using 35mm cameras and lenses since 10th grade. Ten years after graduating from high school my first article was published and I have since had photos published in over 60 books and magazines. Although my first love is wildlife, photography of any kind is important to me. If you see me, it would be unusual if I didn't have my photo equipment close at hand. Recently I have added wedding photography to my repertoire.

Friends or Enemies? Only the Director Knows
I am currently the Artistic Director at LaCrosse Community Theatre. I earned my MFA from the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I am also certified in Stage Combat by the Society of American Fight Directors. I have professional acting experience with the Nebraska Repertory Theatre, the Virginia Shakespeare Festival, the Northern Fort Playhouse in South Dakota, and I toured with the Hampstead Stage Company, a children's theatre based in New Hampshire. Previously, I taught elementary special education, worked as the Technical Director for Aberdeen Central High School, and was an instructor and director with T.O.Y. Box Children's Theatre. I also helped develop a pilot program, called ArtSpark, aimed at educating elementary students in the theatre arts, with Trollwood Performing Arts School in Fargo, ND.

Travel 101: Plan your adventure
I have served on the staff at the University of Wisconsin-Richland since 1985. I enjoy travelling the world, and have visited all seven continents, pursuing my quest to see as much of the world as possible before I die. I enjoy taking photos as I travel and plan to share some of my photos and stories with students in this MSU course.
