Homecoming 2012 highlights …

Homecoming 2012 on Saturday, March 3, was an outstanding day for UW-Richland alumni and friends as 55 former Roadrunner basketball players returned to the “Roost” to renew the spirit of Roadrunner competition. In addition we had some very special guests as part of the festivities.

This year the Alumni Association honored the contributions of the Charter Faculty & Staff of the Richland Campus, those individuals who were here in the Fall of 1967 to open the all-new Richland Campus of Wisconsin State University-Platteville. In addition, individuals who have served as Dean were invited, as well. Among those attending:

Charter Faculty: Dr. Jerry Bower (History); Robert Hirschy (Biology); Garrett Deckert (Geography/Geology);

Charter Staff: Twila Gillingham (Associate Dean’s Secretary); Marguerite Parrell, Campus Nurse;

Deans: Dr. Ross R. Papke, Charter Dean (1967-73); Marjorie Wallace (1974-77, & charter associate dean); Dr. Dion Kempthorne (1990-2001); Dr. Patrick G. Hagen (2010-present);

Charter Students: Mary Lou Fry Walsh; Margaret Johnsrude Davidson; Barbara McCracken Wentz; John Poole; Jim Krause.

Of course, there were the basketball games and this year the Blue Teams won two of the three contests.

The Homecoming Reception followed in the Roadrunner Café on campus. Musical entertainment was provided by “The Dustbunnies,” including UW-Richland alumni Ben Doran and Bill Fallon who donated their services for the event. All in all, it was a wonderful day to be a Roadrunner!
