This study abroad opportunity was is
an amazing chance for students to study rainforest and coral reef
ecology. Students spend a week in the rainforest, at HillBank Field Station, where they learn about the importance of the rainforest, and species diversity.

| Students can go spotting for jaguars, crocodiles and tapirs at night. Tarantulas and scorpions are never in short supply, and the guides are experts in birding. Early morning mist netting is a chance to catch birds to look at them closely. |

Students go to Lamanai
Archaeological Reserve, where they see Mayan temples and a ball
court. The students visit a local village, and get to interact
with local people. Along with the Mayan ruins, students get to see an old Spanish Church and a fantastic British Sugar Mill that has become overgrown by a Strangler Fig Tree. |
| The Community Baboon Sanctuary gives the students an opportunity to meet local people, and interact up close with some troops of Black Howler Monkeys! |

Students stay on the island of St. George's Caye, about 8 miles southeast of Belize city. The Lodge resort is the base for the second week of the trip. |
| Students can take advantage of all the photo opportunities while snorkeling along the Barrier Reef in the Caribbean Sea, or while swimming with sharks and stingrays at SharkRay Alley. |
