Department of Biological Sciences

Dr. Scott Walter

I have been employed by the University of Wisconsin- Richland since 1999, and currently rank as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences.  My educational background primarily deals with animals on the organismal and population levels (BS in Biology from Beloit College; MS and Ph.D. in Wildlife Ecology from UW-Madison), but I teach a diverse array of biology courses on our campus.  My passion is the ecology and management of our local wildlife species; in particular early-successional forest wildlife.  I have been involved with research on Canada geese, ducks, ruffed grouse, and polar bears, and actively seek opportunities for my students to become involved in research projects.  I am very dedicated to the mission of the UW Colleges, and strive to provide the best learning environment for UW-Richland students, both in my classroom and on campus in general.  My wife, children, and I live on my family farm in western Richland County, and are firmly rooted in this area.
