Location
The University of Wisconsin-Richland is located on 135 acres of rolling hills, just off U.S. Highway 14 on
the west side of Richland Center, a southwestern Wisconsin
community of about 5,200 people. Richland Center is located
about midway between Madison and La Crosse on Highway 14. The peaceful community is the birthplace of
world renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
The Campus
UW-Richland is a campus of about 500 students, with a ratio of about 40:60 men/women. Fall and spring
semesters offer an array of courses to help you begin virtually any college major and earn an associate of
arts and science degree. Summer Session and Winterim courses are also offered. You can go part-time, full-time, day time,
evenings and we welcome returning adults as well as students of traditional age. About 20% of UW-Richland
students are over the age of 22.

Student Activities
Many options are open to you. If you're interested in government, run for Student Senate. Play on the
volleyball, men's or women's basketball teams . . . or support Roadrunner teams as a fan. Compete in
intramural sports. Sing in the choir or a vocal ensemble. Make music as a member of the band. Act or
work behind the scenes in campus theatre productions. Be a reporter for Express, the student newspaper.
Clubs you may want to join include International Club and Student Wisconsin Education Association, a
group of Educators of the Future.
Special Events & Programs
All UW-Richland students have special memberships at the Symons Recreation Complex,
a fitness center located on campus . . . and memberships in the campus/community Concert Series. Art,
theatre and other cultural trips to major metropolitan areas are offered through the campus and the Continuing Education
Office, which also offers computer application and other non-credit courses to take for fun or to
develop a useful skill. The Love of Learning Lecture Series and other cultural and arts programs are
open to students. Traditional social highlights for students include the Burlap Olympics, a
freshman-versus-sophomore competition held each fall, and the Roadrunner Road Rallye, held each spring.
Dances or similar activities are offered regularly.
Honors & Recognition
Academic excellence is recognized in many ways at UW-Richland. In addition to Dean's List recognition,
students may have their outstanding course work chosen for publication in Quintessence, an annual juried
publication of the best in student writing. Eligible students may join Phi Theta Kappa - Phi Mu Honor
Society. The UW-Richland Scholarship Program rewards academic achievement. Many academic awards are presented
each spring at the annual Graduation and Awards Night program including those for discipline-related
achievement, research and more.
Leadership and participation are also recognized at UW-Richland. Students have a
Co-Curricular Transcript,
a record of student involvement tracking awards, honors, scholarships, special
certifications, demonstrated leadership and membership in student organizations, an innovative program
that began in 1997.
