‘The Odd Couple” cast prepares for November 4-6 show

By UW-Richland

RLNOddCouple1Three performances of Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple” (female version) are scheduled to be performed at the University of Wisconsin–Richland Coppertop Theatre.  Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, November 4 and 5, with a matinee performance scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6.

Most audiences are familiar with this modern comic classic of the two roommates who are complete opposites.  In this female version, Oscar and Felix have been replaced by Olive and Florence.  And, instead of the poker party from the original version, they have a girl’s night of Trivial Pursuit each week.  But, the fun and endearing antics of the characters remains the same.

Some of the Richland area audience may remember this show from when it was performed in the fall of 1991 at UW-Richland, which was the first production directed at UW-R by its current director, Zoie Eva Lutz.  As this year is the 50th anniversary of UW-R, it was fitting to do a production that was performed 25 years ago on campus.

The cast and crew have been working hard to bring you this hilarious comedy.  The role of Olive Madison is being played by Kim Mindham and her roommate, Florence Unger, is being played by Barbi Hilleshiem.  The Trivial Pursuit friends will be played by Nikki Wentworth Allbaugh (Sylvie), Kathleen Corey-Pittman (Renee), Jennifer Tagliapietra (Mickey), and Suzanne Steldt (Vera).  And, the neighbor brothers are being portrayed by Zachary Larson (Jesus) and Glenn Dunne (Manolo).   Returning from the 1991 production are Barbi Hillesheim, who played Vera, Nikki Wentworth Allbaugh, who played Renee, and Sharon Zales, who played Sylvie and is serving as the Assistant Director on this production.  In addition, Tony Olson is serving as the technical director, Brittany Ogden on lights and stage crew, and Danny Zadrazil is helping with set construction.

Tickets will be sold at the door of the Coppertop Theatre prior to each performance and are $10.  UW-Richland is located at 1200 Hwy 14 West in Richland Center.   For more information, contact director Zoie Eva Lutz by email at zoie.eva.lutz@uwc.edu or call the campus at 608-647-6186.  For more information about the UW-Richland campus visit richland.uwc.edu.
